Product information

A modern classic in a compact, player-friendly form.

If you’re already familiar with Steve Andersen’s work, you’ll know why we’re so excited to have this guitar in the shop. And if you’re not, this is a fantastic place to start.

Steve built world-class archtops out of his one-man shop for over 30 years (he's been retired for a bit now), creating guitars that blend traditional craftsmanship with fresh, player-focused design. This particular model - a rare variant of his celebrated Little Archie - offers a unique take on the concept of a compact archtop: one that brings classic archtop tones and effortless playability into a more ergonomic and versatile format.

With a 14” body and 2” depth, the Electric Archie has a familiar, comfortable feel that instantly makes sense in the hands of electric and acoustic players alike. The top-mounted Duncan Antiquity humbuckers provide open, responsive tones perfect for gigging, while the carved top and back give it a rich acoustic voice that’s surprisingly big for its size.

From the aged tailpiece and pickup covesr to the hand-applied nitro finish that glows with violin-like warmth, this instrument radiates vibe. The 2 piece red maple neck, ebony fingerboard, and ivoroid binding elevate the aesthetic, while the 24.9" scale and 1 11/16" nut width strike a balance between fluid playability and vintage nods.

But what really sets this guitar apart is how alive it feels. It’s resonant, touch-sensitive, and incredibly easy to play - an ideal extension of the player’s hands and intent. Whether you're plugged in or not, this guitar inspires (we lost a good half an hour joyfully playing the first time we sat down to check it out.

We’ve long admired Steve Andersen’s work, and this piece is a beautiful example of why his instruments are held in such high regard. Thoughtfully built, exceptionally musical, and designed with the working player in mind - this one’s hard to put down.
